Dear Friends,
November is here and it is a busy month!
As you may know, the Kickstarter campaign for “The Runaway Princess and Other Stories” was a success!
Thank you all again for going on that journey with me! Thank you for the support, whether you pledged, shared the campaign, or sent well wishes my way. With this success, I am now able to dedicate more time and resources to research, writing, editing, translations, sensitivity reading, artwork and everything else that needs to be done. Thank you again! The plan is for electronic versions of the book to be available on January 15th, 2023, and physical copies on January 25th, 2023. Fingers crossed that all goes according to plan. Otherwise, I will keep you all posted!
Since I’m writing and adjusting to a new work schedule at the moment, MA activity is on a small pause. We’ll still have Friday story time and I’ll still post for the daily mythology and folklore tags if I have something fresh to add. I’ll also be around for #AnansiBookClub posts.
What else has been going on?
If you missed it, you can now watch a recording of my recent talk “In Celebration of Deviant Africans: Queerness and Supernatural Otherness in the Writings of Akwaeke Emezi, Eloghosa Osunde and Helen Oyeyemi” on the MA website. It was super fun, as always, spending time with Sam and our friends over at Romancing the Gothic. Check out my other talks while you’re there!
Finally, Twitter. Most of MA fun occurs over there and there’s a lot going on right now. What I can say is that MA will be on Twitter as long as there is Twitter. However, if Twitter goes away, this newsletter remains the best place to keep up with the fun. You can also:
👉🏾 Follow the MA Channel on YouTube
👉🏾 Subscribe to the Blog on Medium
👉🏾 Bookmark the Website
I really hope Twitter stays, though!
Thank you, as always, for your time and your support!
Be well,
Helen
