MA Podcasts 2024

An Overview

Hello friends!

2024 is going to be an interesting year for MA because I am going in without a defined plan for what I want the year to look like. I spent most of 2023 working on writing projects and navigating the turbulence of life on and away from social media. This solidified into a resolve to spend less time actively engaging on X/Twitter and other social media, and more time focused on long term research and writing projects. Unfortunately, that means scaling down on the activity which drives MA Podcast content: the MA Story Time Twitter Spaces.

So what’s next?

We’ll find out together. What makes MA special (to me anyway) is how we focus on the stories, the context out of which the stories emerge and how they apply to the various contexts we currently live in. This is something I plan to hold on to. However, I don’t want to be just another person droning on about stuff so I will have to find ways to keep things engaging.

Some things to expect:

  • Themed Explorations: I really want to revisit some of the collections of Love and Erotic poetry we read a while back.

  • Original Material: I’ll be looking through public domain archives for any recordings of songs, incantations, folktales etc. which I can incorporate into episodes.

  • Guests: When I can, I hope to have folks who have expertise on particular topics join us for chats.

  • Epics: We’ll read and talk about some traditional African epics.

  • Classics: We’ll also read and talk about some classic African literature.

Weekly episodes are still the plan but if that changes, you will all be the first to know!

Thank you all again for your interest and support and cheers to a fun 2024!

Be well,

Helen
